‘Paris je t’aime!’ as students embark on a trip of culture & history

Four staff, 43 very excited students and a lot of history and culture ahead, a group of year 10's at the Academy as they embarked on an immensely exciting trip to Paris.

A group of students and staff from Oasis Academy Arena recently enjoyed a fabulous trip to Paris taking in the sites of an amazing city. For the overwhelming majority of students it was their first visit to the capital of France with a plethora of history and culture in abundance.

During their visit, the group of excited students and staff went to the Cité des Sciences, learning about the human body, engineering, video games and sports. The Cité des Sciences is the biggest science museum in Europe. Located in Parc de la Villette in Paris, France, it is one of the three dozen French Cultural Centres of Science, Technology and Industry, promoting science culture. About five million people visit the Cité each year.

It did not end there - during one morning of the visit, they spent time in Versailles (visiting the palace of King Louis XIV) and the Louvre, seeing the Mona Lisa and the Venus De Milo. Students engaged with the most famous pieces of art from across the globe.

Gregory Shaw, Deputy Principal at Oasis Academy Arena, commented on the recent visit, saying; “Our students embraced the French way of life, trying new foods, experiencing new traditions and learning about French history, enhancing their cultural capital. The memories will last a lifetime!”

Breathe taking views - Students spent the afternoon in Montmartre, practising their French as they ordered food and took a leisurely river cruise down the Seine. Paris came to life on the riverbanks of the Seine as both Parisians and our students exchanged waves, whilst experiencing the most beautiful sites on offer.

To top off an amazing trip to France, it concluded with a trip to Disneyland Paris, where students spent time taking pictures with their favourite Disney characters, eating crepes and trying out the numerous theme park rides available.
