Following the inspection of a Croydon school in November the head of Ofsted has written to the principal this week to praise the improvements that have been implemented, and the additional support offered to students.

Chief Inspector, Amanda Spielman, has written to the Principal of Oasis Academy Arena, Thomas Raymond, on the recent inspection.

In the letter Ms Spielman praises the teaching at the Academy, complimenting the ‘purposeful curriculum, which is supported by teachers with subject expertise’, which in turn is improving pupils’ learning.

The Chief Inspector also commends the Academy’s focus on literacy, and how the students are supported to gain a good understanding of key vocabulary which is accelerating their progress.

Ms Spielman concludes by praising the teaching staff’s high expectations of pupils, expecting them to work hard and to behave well.

Commenting, Thomas Raymond, Principal of Oasis Academy Arena, says, “We are grateful to Ms Spielman for her letter of support.”

“Oasis Academy Arena is a school that is making swift and sustainable improvement, and that is thanks to the hard work and determination of our staff and students. We have the plans in place to continue this progress, and to make the Academy the exceptional educational environment that our children deserve.”
