Our basic expectation is that teachers set homework at least once a week in every subject and that this homework reinforces learning that has already taken place in the classroom. Whilst the main function of homework we set is to reinforce learning that has taken place in lessons, we provide students with a wide range of opportunities for out of school learning, with homework used, on occasion, as a preparative exercise for subsequent lessons, or as a learning curiosity.
Show my Homework
We are also pleased to announce that we have now adopted a new system for managing homework tasks and deadlines called Show My Homework. This system is already used and trusted by over 500,000 UK students and will provide your child with a clear picture of their current homework situation, giving them the ability to prioritise workloads and stay organised using a personalised calendar, to-do list and email reminders.
For parents who wish to take a more active role in their children’s home learning, they can by having their own Show My Homework account. We've given ‘power’ back to parents. They can now take a more proactive role in driving homework prioritisation, keeping tabs on homework without being intrusive.
Show My Homework gives Parents the chance to:
- stay informed and engaged
- 24/7 access
- reduce homework stress.
Access Show My Homework.
All students have been issued with a subscription to www.MyMaths.co.uk. They will each be set at least one homework a week on MyMaths, reinforcing the learning that has already taken place in the classroom. Students are also set a personalised series of booster lessons and activities to complete at their own pace over the course of a term.
Our students all have access to the online learning platform www.vle.mathswatch.com/vle. This complements students' use of www.mymaths.co.uk. Students may be set homework via Mathswatch alongside www.mymaths.co.uk and are encouraged to use Mathswatch as a prep activity. Mathswatch provides all students with access to videos covering every topic at GCSE, with worked solutions to GCSE style questions. Students can watch, pause, rewind and rewatch the videos in support of their homework.
