Place 2 Be
Founded in 1994 Place2Be is an innovative, growing charity that supports children’s emotional development and mental wellbeing by offering them a space where they can express their feelings through talking, creative work and play. Place2Be delivers a range of services directly to children, parents and staff in schools and works in partnership with us at Oasis Academy Arena.
Place2Be works with children on a one-to-one basis, offering counselling and shorter term solution focused sessions through regular time-tabled support for those who will benefit most. Another aspect of the service is Place2Talk - a lunchtime drop-in service, which is open to all students every Monday and Wednesday. Here, students can make an appointment to spend 15 minutes with a trained and qualified therapist to talk about friendships, concerns or any worries they may have. Counsellors also provide themed work with small groups and support mental health awareness for students around the school.
Place2Be counsellors routinely meet with parents to discuss their worries about their children and also offer support to teachers and school staff members via Place2Think, where the focus is the students, which in turn helps the whole school to thrive.
If you would like to find out more about the service, please contact Sian Chaffer, Place2Be School Project Manager on 020 8240 6700.
